Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP): Summary Report, June 19-20, 2013
This meeting report includes the recommendations of the US Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) regarding the issue of intussusception and rotavirus vaccines. ACIP reviewed recent data on the issue and discussed trends in intussusception hospitalizations, rotavirus vaccine impact in the United States, and estimates of the benefits and intussusception risk of rotavirus vaccination in the United States. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention decided to continue to recommend that all US infants receive rotavirus vaccine, given that the benefits of vaccination outweigh the small excess risk of intussusception.
