Polio Transition Planning: Assessing Country Progress, Risks and Ambition

Global polio funding is changing and countries have been developing plans to ensure they can continue essential polio and immunization systems when funding ends. This policy brief highlights the link between changing polio financing and the other essential elements of immunization and health systems that could be at risk without greatter attention. It reviews the seven publicly available country polio transition plans to assess progress on transition planning and to examine risks, challenges, and ambition within the polio transition process. The review focuses on the country-level as it is the decisions made here that will most impact whether children are reached with essential services or not.
